Established in 1993, the restaurant was created with a simple yet meaningful vision: to prepare food exactly as it is made at home — using fresh ingredients, traditional recipes passed down through generations, and a true passion for authentic Greek cuisine.
More than thirty years later, this philosophy remains at the heart of everything they do. For the team, tradition is not something preserved only in old cookbooks; it is a living part of everyday life, expressed through the preparation of each dish, the warm service, and the genuine hospitality offered to every guest. Located in Adamas, in a quiet area near the port, the restaurant welcomes visitors to a simple yet charming setting. Downstairs from our AirBnb was this gem! Family run with the best pasta I've had this side of Italy. I had the homemade pasta with a local sun dried tomato and garlic sauce. It was perfectly al dente, and I ate it all (no keto diet on vacation!) My sister in law had the shrimp, and we had a fantastic orange cake dessert with ice cream that just melted into it and was delicious! While off the main tourist waterfront is worth the couple of blocks walk for some authentic family made food :-)

Food was very good. No goat stew or swordfish today. Went with zucchini balls, grilled sardines, and rooster pasta. All very good. Chicken was super tender. Service was friendly from the young gentleman but definitely a little slow. It took 15-20 minutes to get our check and over 40 for the main course. The owner was there but he kind of looked like he was goofing off and the kid was running around in 20 different directions before the owner started helping him. Took a star off for the table behind us for smoking and a lot of mosquitoes but I guess that’s a cultural thing they don’t usually control. Cat was cute. The owner interacted with it so I don’t know it was his or not. It scratched me though before I could fully drop some of my chicken on the ground for it.

This is a family restaurant, so the food is truly home-cooked. It is away from the typical tourist traps. It is a quiet and calm shaded yard. Because it is a regular restaurant where locals go, you will truly experience the local cuisine. All dishes are tasty with generous portions at reasonable prices, and definitely lower prices than the tourist area restaurants. See the photos and their titles.

Highly recommended! A place where mainly locals eat and for a reason! The owner and staff are very friendly. The food was delicious. Many options and many local dishes which you can’t always find at other places. We were very happy we went here

Lovely setting for taverna off the main road less commercial and reasonably priced. More traditional food and went twice, second time brought friends. Service great and ambience is warm and friendly. Love the huge lemon tree and grape vines. Was filled with diners by the time we left at 8pm. Loved the warm fava, lamb chops, goat stew. Lamb chops were moist and charcoal flavour. Highly recommend.

We had the island salad, the grilled octopus, the imam eggplant, the sausage, the lamb chops & the grilled sardines. So hard to pick the best dish (possibly the eggplant for me). Everything was excellent! Simple but high quality, fresh local ingredients at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our evening at this out of the way taverna under the trees. Away from the bustle of the front it was pleasantly quiet. I had the rooster with pasta dish which was very enjoyable, traditional too, the pasta was delicious. My husband had the pork which was well cooked. Very well priced, good quality house wine. Shame on one of the other customers who deliberately kicked one of the ever present cats; clearly not British, us Brits are animal lovers and don't do that sort of thing....

Our family enjoyed a meal at Barko last night. We have already visited the ‘highly rated’ and instagram popular restaurants and we had no expectations of Barko, but were very pleasantly surprised. The outdoor eating area has a lovely vibe to it, the staff are friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was fantastic, fresh and flavourful. The chicken souvlaki was tender and juicy, the zucchini balls we’re crispy, and the feta baked in filo with honey and sesame seeds was the best we’ve eaten since arriving in Greece a couple of weeks ago. The moussaka and Greek salad were delicious. Barko is a little hidden gem and we were absolutely thrilled to find it.

We live in an airbnb nearby, nice that we don’t need to walk to the port for food in such windy and scorching weather. The restaurant has a really chill and nice vibe, with grape vines and orange trees surrounding the dining area. They have quite some options on the menu. The food is delicious and fair priced. The orange pie is our favorite.
