NEW EXHIBITION: WARRIOR In war, we’re allowed to kill but what does it do to us? What would it do to you? The new exhibition “Warrior” focuses on the individuals who go into battle. The exhibition looks at similarities and differences between four different warriors: The Japanese samurai, the Roman legionary, the Sepik warrior from New Guinea and the modern Danish soldier. What does it take to become a warrior and how do you return to civilian life when the fighting’s done?

The Danish War Museum is a must visit especially for those into war history! The museum location itself is historical, within Christian IV’s arsenal building from 1604. It covers thousands of artifacts over 500 years of Danish history. If you thought level one was amazing, level two is even more impressive. We spent a longer here than planned which is a great thing! Check out the Leopard tank outside too. Thank you, mange tak! 🇩🇰🙏🏻

Very good historical museum. Probably a must see for those who love military stuff. Not only with old/historical objects, armory etc, but also with some modern things - like really interesting drone or maritime exhibition. I have seen bigger military museums with much more “objects” inside, but this one was really good and interesting! Nice.

Add this to the list of museums that a certain American politician hasn't visited. Very informative. I enjoyed the miniature battle scenes & info on Denmark's involvement in the middle east.

Simply amazing museum and a must visit. Can easily spend 2 + hours here. Such a diverse array of artifacts from medival times to current, the model ships on display are incredible - true craftsmanship.

Visit with Copenhagen Pass. The 2nd floor is great!! Must visit! First floor is for canon lovers, nothing much.

The war museum was impressive to visit. Outside is a tank which is a great start in my opinion! The ground floor had some artillery pieces (including a radioactive warning sign) and an impressive exhibit about drones in war (go check out the infrared camera). Upstairs was about the development of wars including Denmark just until the Afghan war. Very many details about naval warfare (however there was a big navy to document from so very understandable). WW2 information and onwards was good to see. All informations are in Danish and English. I'd definitely recommend a visit if you are interested.

I absolutely loved my visit to the War Museum in Copenhagen! There is so much to see and explore – I spent several hours walking through the exhibitions, and still feel like I could easily come back for more. The museum is housed in a beautiful and historic building that once served as the Royal Danish Arsenal (Tøjhuset), dating back to the early 1600s. Walking through its vaulted halls really adds to the atmosphere — it feels like you're stepping into history. The exhibits span centuries of Danish and European military history, and the sheer scope is incredible — from Viking weaponry to Cold War-era displays. What really struck me was how impressive Denmark once was as an empire. The museum offers a fascinating look into a time when Denmark was a true military and naval power, controlling vast territories and engaging in major European conflicts. One of the most interesting aspects was learning about the many wars Denmark fought with Sweden. The rivalry between these two Nordic powers played a massive role in shaping the region’s history, and it was intriguing to see how often they clashed, and how that influenced both nations’ development. The museum does a fantastic job of illustrating those conflicts through detailed exhibits, battle dioramas, and historical weapons. The collections are very well-curated, with clear descriptions and thoughtful multimedia displays. There’s a strong focus not only on weaponry, but also on the people behind it - soldiers, commanders, and civilians alike. It’s both informative and emotionally engaging. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere was very welcoming. Whether you're a military buff, a history lover, or just looking for something unique and substantial to do in Copenhagen, I highly recommend this museum. It’s a deeply enriching and memorable experience — and a reminder of Denmark’s rich, and at times turbulent, past.

Really solid museum focused on Danish military history. The exhibits are clear, well laid out (especially the first floor with the timeline of equipment and uniforms) and with lots of original weapons, uniforms, and equipment, all housed in the old arsenal building which adds to the atmosphere. Easy to walk through at your own pace, informative without being overwhelming. Worth a visit if you’re interested in history or want a quieter, thoughtful museum experience in Copenhagen. Was cool to see the U.S. civil war uniforms on exhibit as well. Can definitely recommend checking this spot out.

One of the best museums I have been to for a long time. So many great and interesting exhibits. Stories very well told in Danish and English, the staff were lovely as well. The second floor of the museum is massive! You can spend as much time as you wish looking and reading about everything in detail. I would highly recommend this museum to any individuals and it would also be great for families because of the interactive displays

Great exhabitions. A lot of modern war stuff on ground floor and at the end of the main floor. Some areas allowed to wear costumes, sleep in hammock etc. Great and interactive. About hour for a quick walk through, though if you wish to actually read and learn I would say it would take about 2 hours.
