We went here because this is the same name as my wife. Definitely a place for locals. Seems like the crew knew a lot of the patrons. Very extensive menu along with daily specials. We started off with Greek salad with feta and an order for bread (yes, you have to pay for bread). We didn’t know any of the Greek wines so we sampled the house “red” (more like rose) but it was fine so we got a 1/2 ltr. Time for entrees. My wife chose the lamb with roasted potatoes. The menu says lamb cooked differently every day. A few small bones in it but good I ordered the stuffed cabbage with beef. It came with an avyolemono sauce. I was hoping for tomato but I still finished it. Too full for anything else but they brought us a ramekin of a homemade dessert, yum. Service was a team effort and fine. Food are in large quantities so enjoy. Would definitely go back to explore more of the menu.

Went here three times during our two weeks stay in Naxos. Never disappointed of the food served, especially the today’s dish which only served on Friday, Sat, and Sunday. I forgot the name but it‘s pork cooked with pepper and feta. It was soooo good. Kontosuvli is also really recommended. The calamari’s were a bit chewy but not too bad. The prices are good and the service was great. Loving the on the house treats they gave us!

We loved it here, a traditional taverna with happy staff, mountains of good food & great value pricing. Most meals could honestly serve two the portions were HUGE. Owner/waiter was super friendly & even gave us some free wine. 1l wine, 1 starter, 2 mains, 2x big water, coffee all came to €50.

We were told about Maros by a chap who worked in the ferry and how thankful we were. Delicious. Massive helpings so go there when you are hungry and you will not be disappointed.

Incredibly homemade Greek food. The portions are huge, son quantity and quality. Gyros in dish, see the pictures. You don't have to miss this experience. Prices are excellent.

My fiancé and I had the pleasure of eating in Maro’s Taverna on our first day adventuring in Naxos. We came across it randomly and I’m so glad we did! Out of the three Islands we visited (Crete, Naxos and Paros) and all of the wonderful places we ate at, this was by far my favourite. I still crave the dishes. The food was homemade, the ingredients fresh and you could taste how much thoughtfulness and love was put into each plate! The portions were generous, prices were fair and everything came out hot. The service was friendly. The place was clean and incredibly charming, surrounded by family photos, various antiques and keepsakes. I hope to visit again one day!

This charming family-run tavern serves up traditional comfort food that feels like it’s straight from a Greek grandmother’s kitchen. The atmosphere is warm and nostalgic—the history of the place is literally written on the walls, with old photos and mementos that tell a story of generations past. The food was absolutely superb. Every dish tasted homemade, rich with flavor and cooked with love. It’s the kind of spot where you don’t just eat—you savor. The service is friendly in that classic Greek way: a bit chaotic, but full of heart. We felt welcomed like old friends. One thing to keep in mind: get there early! They only make a certain number of portions per dish each night, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. But that’s part of the charm—it’s fresh, it’s local, and it’s real. Oh, and the prices? Incredibly cheap for the quality you’re getting. Maros is a hidden gem that captures the spirit of Naxos. Highly recommended.

Under new ownership, this charming restaurant continues to impress. Though moussaka and pastitsio weren’t available, the quality remained outstanding. The fresh porgy exceeded expectations, lamb chops were delightfully crispy, and the pasta bolognese hit the spot. A vibrant salad and Naxian saganaki rounded out the meal perfectly. Warm hospitality made the experience even better, with a generous offering of local Greek wine. The tradition of great food and atmosphere lives on—I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes!
