Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen is a must-see! Built in the early 1600s by King Christian IV, the castle is a beautiful example of Renaissance architecture. A masterpiece of order and elegance— from silent clicks of tickets online to guests drifting in every ten minutes, like ripples guided gently through time. Beneath vaulted stone, the treasury glows, crowns and gems whispering royal echoes. Each display, a hush of history, a shimmer held in velvet shadows. If only— the castle’s heights would welcome a few, to glimpse the city’s quiet sprawl, to watch the golden flags turn and turn again, chasing the whims of the wind. It was so serene, it drew my little one in—she captured countless photos and videos, enchanted by the museum’s quiet beauty.

Fascinating experience! The ticket allows entry to the palace and access to all the guidance material to help you learn as you go (self paced). We inside of the castle is beautiful. Rooms are clearly marked for their decorations and purpose. The ticket also allows entry to the treasury and Crown Jewels, where you can see weaponry, battle clothing, ornate gifts, and of course, the previous and current royal jewels. Highly recommend!

This was one our best attractions in Copenhagen as it is absolutely fascinating. The history is amazing and although there is some renovation a lot of the castle is original. There is a queuing system to get in but generally the wait is not too long and you can stroll around the grounds until your time. When you move around the castle it does not get too busy. This was one of our favourite castles we visited and highly recommend coming here.

What I liked was that you can relax in the gardens without having to buy a ticket. A ticket is required when you want to enter the castle. I was impressed by the furniture, which was precisely made and had many details. Each room had a different and unique fireplace. The jewelry was something that took my breath away. Even more interesting is that there are some that are still used today.

Rosenborg Castle is a beautiful and historic site worth visiting in Copenhagen. You can buy tickets at the entrance, and there’s also a gift shop on-site. Before entering, you’ll need to store your belongings in a locker—only your mobile phone and locker key are allowed inside. The interior features several rooms filled with royal artifacts, including jewels and other historical items. The surrounding gardens are peaceful and perfect for a relaxing walk. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous castle definitely worth the visit! The ticket was ~20 USD and although not the biggest castle, it’s full of history and beautiful decor. They even have some Crown Jewels in the basement. If you want to spend a couple hours learning about Danish royal history and seeing beautiful rooms, items, and art, definitely a must! The gardens outside are free to roam and also gorgeous. Perfect for instagrammable photos too!

I was in Copenhagen for the day on a cruise and eager to take in as much royal history as possible—and Rosenborg Castle absolutely delivered. Copenhagen has no shortage of castles, but this one was a clear highlight of our walking tour. Built in the early 1600s by King Christian IV, Rosenborg is not only rich in history but also stunning in scale. The castle itself is beautiful and imposing, but we were equally impressed by the immaculate grounds and gardens that surround it. The size of some of the trees is incredible, and everything is so well-maintained—it’s clear how much care has gone into preserving this space for the public to enjoy. We didn’t go inside due to time constraints, but just walking the grounds was more than worth it. Between the rose gardens, the Hercules Pavilion, the statue of H.C. Andersen, and the overall peaceful atmosphere, it felt like a refreshing escape from the buzz of the city. If you’re in Copenhagen and love history, castles, or simply beautiful outdoor spaces, Rosenborg Castle is a must-see.

Awesome castle museum. The rooms are so beautiful and ornate. There are multiple floors that you can view and each room has a different personality. The jewels are also so impressive. I went during a weekday and it was not too crowded. Definitely worth a stop to visit, especially if you get the Copenhagen card.
